Obviously google is give more importance to offpage optimization than onpage optimization. How about Yahoo? does yahoo still focus on offpage optimization?
I have a site with more than 30,000 back link in yahoo but don't even get 10 unique a day from them....
Off page optimization is now a days followed by almost all search engines. Due to creation of numerous seo companies and seo tools almost every one know on page optimization little bit. Getting links is still a challenge for a site looking to get 5000 quality links.
The most important factor for all SE is, unfortunatelly, backlinks.I've seen ,many times, blank pages, pages under construction ranking very well with the right backlinks.
Both, off-page is the most important, but if you neglect any part of SEO then you're putting your site at an immediate disadvantage.
You can get better placements in Yahoo with onpage optimization. I ranked #8 for one keyword when I raised the keyword density I got the #3 place after the new page was indexed. But offpage is definitely the best way to raise your rankings. Get good lnks, links , links ...
Both are very important, cant say no to onpage seo. Page which is really badly designed and coded might rank very well with very large number of backlinks, but to get such high number of backlinks are very difficult, hence it becomes even more important to first do onpage seo, and then talk about offpage, once you have a page which is fairly well seo'ed with respect to title, meta tags, and other tags, next big and harder step is to build links for it. which is almost never ending task....
Yes, I agree 100%. On-page factors are usually a one-time process. Over the time, you'll need to make a few minor changes here and there and update your pages to keep them fresh. Off-page is a never ending task.
I also agree to that. And i think Yahoo should consider also the act of Off Page Optimization. Yeah right Off-Page is never ending task, this was the one that plays a role in your/our rankings so we should have get a credits to this. It was hard,. Compare to On-Page that can be done in just one and same process where all SEO's must have a knowledge about this...
Both are equally Important for both yahoo and google. What I have seen though is that MSN seem to give more weightage to Onpage.. As far as getting less traffic from yahoo, I guess the keyword tools are not too perfect for yahoo and Google and Yahoo users aparently have a different mindset.. Why bother with yahoo though... What Works for yahoo might not work for Google.. EG: The keyword density algorithm for Yahoo and G are very different.. I used to rank number 3 for a coool keyword.. 6000 visits a day.. from number 3 only.. Now I am at the bottom one day and the second page the other day on google after I tweaked with the onpage.. OnPage is important, but beware of the G filter...
Well as far as my view is concerned I will prefer Both. Both are necessary for any SE and a good combination between the two is always required. You wont be able to gain the SERP positioning with just creating huge amount of back links, even you can't achieve that with just optimizing ur pages. So a combination is always required.
Of course both are important, but after we are talking about yahoo... I think they still give really serious value on the onpage seo. Still no sense starting offpage optimization if there's no onpage SEO already done. I have recently tried to reach the first positions for few keywords about Euro 2008, although my sites are not sport related.. and I did at least in google after creating a lot of links(upto 3rd position). However, I had totally different experience with yahoo - never moved from 6 or 7th position whatever I do! The difference (for same 3 keywords): - in yahoo a page with not many direct links, but totally dedicated to Euro 2008 including all tags & text - 7 position; - in google the home page of the site with lots of links with the corresponding anchor - 4th position currently. No tags about Euro 2008, as I've said it is not sport related site. There's only a short /2-3 sentences article/, which is meant to draw visitors to the actual Euro 2008 page. All results in google done last 2 months!, after I decided its not too late; in yahoo never changed position last 6-8 months... All this experience brings to my mind that google are easier to manipulate only via link creation. I mean they should at least ranked my dedicated page, not the home page, which has nothing to do with the aimed keywords(except the links to it). Anyway, I am now going for the sports niche on a couple new sites
I think all are the Search Engine Updated there algo. So, Onpage and Offpage both are important to get rank any of the SE. Thank you
i agree both the optimization your website need to do well in SERP's. though get some advanced information on promoting website rather than going only with conventional way.
No matter what, you should always make your on page SEO as good as possible, and then spend as much time as you can off page, but always make sure that at the least, your on page seo is decent.
Yahoo is too unpredictable, and it doesn't drive that much traffic. I find Google and MSN the easiest to please (and rank). I do agree that it pays somewhat much more attention to content and authority than anything else.
