With no other text at all in the alt tag except one keyword/phrase? Do this for each image using a differant keyword/phrase for each?

Also just came across a slight problem! Well not really a problem, but im stuck with it, so i thought id add the question into this thread. When adding the alt tags to the images on my webpage, i have a few images that are just thin faded bars for design. Is it better to just leave the alt tags blank for these. Im not sure because i know that it isnt good to have missing alt tags, but theres nothing i can put to describe coloured rectangles lol.

Its always great to use keywords in your alt tags or you can use some other words with your keyword in the alt tag.

Look the best method to write an alt tag is to write the keyword. It usually represents what image is about, if you write "Keyword, Keyword, Keyword, Keyword" that's called spamming and it might hurt you!! So my advice is that you can rotate the top keywords for alt tags in the images used. If you put your main keyword in the hyperlinked image then that will also become an anchor text for the targeted page.

You just need to add your main keyword in the field which says alt"". Put keyword between commas.

if your keyword is red shoes, the alt tag would be alt="red shoes", if you get this along with your keyword onpage in h1, h2 and h3 tags you are on your way to success

ALT is an attribute for the IMG Tag.
The ALT Attribute should be the description of the Image. Be careful about the keyword staffing.

Keywords in alt tags are great but don't only rely on one place. Make sure you have your keywords in header tags, anchor text, title and descriptions as well.
