Sorry if this is not the section to post this question, i was not quite sure where to ask that.

On google last pagerank update 2-3 weeks ago, my new website went from NoPageRank to PR4. But only the homepage got PR4, the other pages got PR0 or PR1.

I though that when your homepage have PR4, the pages 1 click away get PR3, 2 clicks away get PR2.. .. ..

Anyone can explain me what is wrong please?
    Thanks

Simply page rank does not have anything to do about how many clicks is something away, but is connected only to the number (and strength) of incoming links. In your case probably your site is done in such a manner that most of your internal pages have a link to your home page, but your home page does not link back to all of them, which makes it stand out.

This is generally not considered a bad thing and you normally want the most PR for your homepage. A way to increase PR for internal pages is to have more backlinks directly to them either through your site or external linking.

Most of the links to your site would have been pointing to the home page.

It takes a while for the PR to percolate to the inner pages. And it doesn't generally happen on the first update, when your home page goes from zero to 'any number'. You will also need a good linking structure, as well as links to point to the inner pages.

There's nothing wrong with your case. It's usual that there are some page that ranks higher than the other pages coz it depends on what page/s your links are pointing to)

If you really want to gain PR with your site's internal pages, you have to do deep linking...

It's normal especially if it is a blog. Most backlinks are pointing to homepage. Your are using your hompage in submitting to directories that's why backlinks has the big chance that can have PR.

Thanks for all the answers. Yes you are right, almost 95% of the links point to my homepage. For interlink, i don't know much how to do it correctly. Right now, my homepage points to 15 other pages and none of the PR4 juice got transfered to them. All these pages have two links back to homepage (the website logo on top left and a text link on bottom right).

I will try to get more deeplinks and hopefully on the next update some of the homepage PR will get transfered to them :)

PageRank is calculated on a per-page basis. If you want to have the PR of your inner pages go up, the best way to do that is to get people to link to your inner pages. Yes, PR will eventually "transfer" from your home page to your inner pages, but it's going to take a while for this to happen.

You also need to remember that the PR ranking you're seeing is not the current statistic. What you're seeing is really stale data that's anywhere between 3-6 months old (depending on how long it's been since a Google PageRank update, which is usually every 3 months or so, but sometimes takes longer) that's been pushed out. So just like with the light from other stars in our own galaxy (and the universe for that matter), what you're really seeing is just a snapshot back in time, not what's going on now.
