Figured that would get your attention. Anyhow, I have this new website i'm working on and it's a bit out of my expertise, but the profit potentianl (in my opinion is CRAZY! Unlike my Christian dating site, and my other several sites, i'm having a real problem pinpointing exactly how to market this one or for that matter brand it.

Initially we were going for a site where you could Vent about things that pissed you off, mad you happy, or just whatever. However the script that I went with on this one had a dating element built in as well as Video Chat, Phone Chat and plenty of other features which made it more appealing, but at the same time more confusing to market.

We thought about charging an annual $4.95 fee and letting people do whatever the hell they want, or simply keeping it completely free and monetizing it through advertising only.

I guess the gist of my post is to get some opinions/suggestions on the direction you think we should take this site in. If we charged for it, we were going to make it more appealing by installing an affiliate program and making it were everyone gets paid 50% for whomever they refer, as well as ad revenue sharing. If we kept it free we were simply going to charge for the several ad spots on a per weekly basis (once traffic and the user base picked up of course).

We did a sort of "test marketing" on Craigs list in the personals and rants and raves sections and had over 100 people register within a 7 day period and twelve of them actually paid the $4.95 fee (we refunded them when we made the site free) so I know it has potential to be a paid site.

Enough of my rambling, please give me your opinions/suggestions:confused:

honestly, there are plenty of totally free avenues for people to vent their anger and blab about what pisses them off. Eg. Blogs

So trying to get people to pay is just crazy. You could charge people to view past posts but they would have to be really good , and thats the challenge.
