Actually in last update of Google (27th of June 2011) improved the page rank of my website and then i watched the backlinks of my website there were only 90% forums links found so i was thinking that now Forums are enough to make my website more visible through this offpage strategy.
well not for long time, it is better that you will vary you link source, also forums can be closed when people leave them and all your link backs will get down. it happened to me......
Well you just saw one fact of of PR but Google considered a huge fact while getting you PR. So don't get so excited. Ya forum backlinks are valuable but not quite enough to get you higher PR.
You tried forums and you saw the result. Now try outside the forum and then compare your website's value/visitors to the previous state. You will come to know by yourself.
Yes, you should get links from a wide variety of sources so you are not dependent on a single source.
let's say if google stopped considering links from forums ... what will happen to your site? so, keep spreading links to all different sites, not sticking with one type of sites.
i only have time to post on dp but we have only been up about two months and so far have a pr2 and going up in alexa stats. I want to do more soon as i get more free time though. But so far forum posting has been working for me.
To maintain the page rank, need continuous effort. You cannot stop when you saw your page rank has increased. Other website will take over your ranking. Purely forum posting cannot guarantee your site will remain at the ranking. Try article submission to improve your page ranking.
you should get links from a variety of sources: forums posting and signature, blog comments, articles submits, one way links from other related sites, ......
To maintain your SERP and page rank, You need continuous links building and strategy. Forums links are not enought!
i will only say backlink is never enough, just as money the more quality backlink you get, the better result you gain
As others have stated it is great that you are seeing the results from your forum links and they can definitely be beneficial. However you should think about diversifying your link profile. Getting links from a variety of sources will lend more credibility to your website and increase your rankings naturally over time.
Well... Congrats for PR 2 but still you have to utilize your best efforts in order to sustain this PR and increase it. It may be possible that you are seeing 90% from different forums but you should have choices before you in terms of backlink resources.
Link diversity is extremely important. You need to think about what will happen if you're focusing on just one type of backlink and Google decides to devalue it.
You cannot rely on Forum only for building links, you need to do article submission, directory submission, social bookmarking and link exchange with relevant sites for getting links. Always, it's the number of quality links which matters not forum links, and that can come only if you go for complete link building process such as directory submission, article submission, blog commenting, social book marking and link exchange.
You just can not rely havily on only one source of backlink In order to keep your page rank up you need to take all required methods for backlinking which are whitehat.
IMO, You should never rely on one source for backlink. As you might get penalized as it doesn't look real to get only one type of links. Try Article marketing, blogs commenting, profile links, directory submissions, Feeds and various other ways.
