My guess is that its a list compiled in the USA hence no mention of cricket. There will be around 200-300 million Indians alone watching the cricket world cup final, not to mention people from otherw parts of thw world. If India get to the final, the figure will probably exceed hyalf a billion. Everyone, even in poor viallages where people can't afford TV sets will gather around the houses of those who have TV's. Of course, these days more and more people have TV's, anyway.

Roman, wikipedia states the event will be watched by close to 2 billion people. I don't know whether it is indeed the third most watched event, but it does attract enough eyeballs to merit attention
