Well, at least ~76% of people do not approve of Bush.
Also, most Americans are finally against the illegal war in Iraq.

Didn't Jimmy Carter maintain like 20% also. If he could do it then it should be easy for bush to maintain 20%

Bush is a lame duck, and approval polls don't really matter...especially if they are conducted by MediaMatters or another left wing outlet of hatred.

perhaps so...I wasn't saying that mediamatters did it, but they do conduct polls and such that are often biased. Furthermore, I really don't trust reuters that much either, they have a long history of doctoring stuff from articles to photos. Besides, like I said, Bush is a lame duck. He cannot be re-elected. Congress on the other hand...what does that say about Nancy P?

Every president since 1963 has had approval ratings at one time or another that were lower than Bush's current rating. Those ratings include Lyndon Johnson's 35%, Richard Nixon's 24%, Gerald Ford's 37%, Jimmy Carter's 28%, Ronald Reagan's 35%, the elder George Bush's 29% and Bill Clinton's 37%.

Bush's current rating is 24%, yet the ones you listed are bolded above 'higher than' 24%

I also was not arguing, simple fact I think you were thinking of Nixon.

Your story is from 2005 btw

I knew Nixon’s were bad, but so were Carters, I didn't remember how bad though. If we weren't attacked on 9-11 and we didn't go to Iraq Bush would of had a 50-60% approval rating.

I highly doubt that, Bush got higher ratings BECAUSE of 9-11 not the other way around. If it hadn't been for 9-11 Bush would have never had the highs he had ;)

The economy rebounded nicely in 2002 and 2003, the unemployment rate fell and people are working, you figure a country not at war people would feel secure like they did pre 9-11, its not unrealistic that he would be around 50%

Unrealistic or not that is just a stab in the dark, there is more to being approving of the President other than unemployment or the economy ;) How about the current housing market?...

He is also the one who got us into Iraq, so the argument 'without Iraq he'd be higher' is pretty null and void.

These are good things though. Too many here are so partisan, that anything that is construed as "good news" is immediately challenged with delusion and denial and demands for "the full picture."

It's all about the hatred of Bush. Bush derangement syndrome!

Good posts, BTW! Nice to see some people have the capability to see positive things!

And yet people call Ron Paul a nut for saying we need to completely overhaul it.

Looks like 82% of Americans are crazy and truthers. What is this country coming to?

The only 2 presidents who had such low poll results and for similarly long time periods were Nixon and Truman. I don't know when it happened but 10-20-30 years after Truman left office history tended to treat him very well.

With Nixon its been over 30 years. He is still seen as a crummy President. I tend to think Bush will be seen like Nixon 30 years after being out of office.

As for the polls on Congress, the one's I've seen that go further and poll on satisfaction dissatisfaction for the Democrats and Republicans in office...the polls rate the Republicans lower than the democrats; albeit they both rank low.

    Congress also stinks, imho.
