Can anyone explain me the need of ORM for a business and steps/techniques used to perform Online reputation management. Is this must for all or not? please help me with your expert opinions and things we can do, while maintaining or creating online reputation of a website. Also, what is the time required to perform ORM for a website.
Online reputation management, or ORM is the practice of making people and businesses look their best on the Internet. To accomplish that, people need to control their online search results because they frequently contain inaccurate, misleading or outdated material which can adversely influence how web searchers view them. But controlling search results isn’t the only goal of online reputation management. Since where someone lives, their income and their marital status all affect the perception of a person, it’s important to prevent private information from being made public, as well. Online reputation management became necessary with the advent of social networks, online forums, blogs and other forms of online communication and information sharing. But since current laws are insufficient to prevent total strangers from damaging your online reputation or harvesting your private information, online reputation management is now critical. Keep any eye over your web-presence.. Do set up a Google alert on your name to keep track of any new content that is making an impact on your online reputation. You can have notifications mailed to you once a day, so as not to overwhelm your inbox. Optimize your presence on all important social and professional networking sites like LinkedIn, facebook , Pinintrest, YouTube, Google Plus, tumbler.. and make all the profiles here targeting to your main domain. You can, and should, put privacy setting on all content you want to share only with a select group of friends and family. However Facebook and other sites are constantly changing the rules about how much you can protect your content, and your friends can forward embarrassing pictures of you without your consent. You need to do it all wisely..
It should be done on a regular basis. You never know what may happen. An unhappy customer could have written a review and everybody could be discussing it. Or a competitor could have written something bad about you online. By the way, positive feedback is sometimes just as important to respond to. If someone commends you in social media and you favorite their tweet, or like the comment on Facebook, or reply to them, the person will feel flawed and could turn into your brand's advocate. So, it's always a good idea to set up Google Alerts or use a social media monitoring program to keep track of posts about your company. Also, it's good to check what keywords Google suggests for your brand when you type in your name. If anything bad shows up there, there are ways to manipulate Google autocomplete - http://www.laurenstarling.org/how-to-remove-a-word-from-google-autocomplete/
