I'm interested in playing poker online with play money. Anyone know if installing the PokerStars application on my PC will give me viruses or malware (spyware, etc). I wasn't sure what these poker apps were laced with, and figured I'd ask about PokerStars specifically. Anyone know?

All the known poker clients are virus free.
If you are just about to start playing and are ready to deposit an amount of money you should look for a good First deposit bonus on the many sites that offer these. You can also look for sites which offer free money to play poker.
When you start playing poker, it is very important to play with the correct mindset and do not play above your bankroll, else you'll go broke quick.
