Well I like the thought of online myself, working from a home office for myself although I have not had an actual business online, just random websites that i've tried to make some money from.

In the near future I do although hope to start an actual online business.

I've run both and the level of risk from criminal acts and fraud is WAY higher in an offline or bricks and mortar shop.

Frauds and Criminal acts don't ask for your adress before they came at you ;)

It hardly matters whether you're at an online business or offline.

I'm at online business currently :D

Except that with an online business, you can prevent nearly all fraud pretty easily with most processors.

Its a lot harder to stop people shoplifting, etc.

The potential is unlimited. Although sometimes very hard to build up the targeted traffic you need to produce the sales. That's the hardest part IMO...

With the online business I want to start, I am planning on advertising and marketing to my local area. I will try to brand it to my city and get involved in local events & media. Then if I catch the eye's of online consumers from outside my city, on a national or even global scale that would be amazing :)

Just have to work work work I guess ;) ideally from home one day:D

Definitetly risks in online business are much less than offline, but i have suffered more losses in my online business than offline.

Reason being, offline business is an old family business and we are pretty much experienced in it, while my online business is only 8 years old. Losses suffered were initially and some of them were due to my own mistakes.
