Online Newspaper Script - is phpcow the best?

I am looking to purchase a script that would enable me to run an online magazine/newspaper site. I have looked at a few different scripts, and it appears phpcow is the best out there. Does anyone have experience with this script, or are there better ones out there?

I'm probably going to start a Joomla site with the magazine add-on. Does anyone mind posting their site that uses Joomla Magazine? It would be nice to see how flexible the application is before I purchase the script.
