Need advice on how best to promote a website. I am looking at online marketing only.

I hear that email advetising can give a great return. I am not sure on banner ads nor pop-ups. Which is bet and how do I go about this?

Who here has first hand experience and advice? :)

Does anyone know any good companies that charge down to earth prices for the above; I perfer small/ one man band companies.

    Advice appreciated.

Calm down, you're asking a billion questions at the same time. :)

It all depends on budget and resources available so let us know if you're a one man band or a multi billion dollar operation. The genre of the site would be handy to know as well since not all marketing techniques apply to all websites...

Selling WHAT online? Porn stuff? Cannabis? Furniture?

And are you looking to spend nothing? $1000 a month? One guy 4 hours a week? 3 guys 40 hours a week each?

    Try This:

Seriously, define a goal first, identify your means. Then ask again.

    Or try AdWords.

I would say £1000 budget for the 1st month to see how it goes.

The site is a a shopping website, like pricerunner.

Effort wise we could give about 4 hours a day, maybe more?

    Any ideas?

You really need to sit down and draft a marketing plan. If you don't take the time to do the research, know your target market, know who your main competitors are, and have a plan to evaluate the tactics you choose, you'll just waste time and money being inefficient. I wouldn't spend a cent until you get a marketing plan first. There are plenty of templates available online to give you an idea. www.mplans.com probably has some samples.
