there is a game in the mmorpg style that atracts many players on the web, travian is the name. I think a great concept in this kind of game is interaction between players (like aliances, pacts and etc).

I think you would have to use ajax (I know that travian for example uses it and php & mysql). Chat, forum, some pages of help, interaction in the game all of these will make a good one
