Online Football Fixtures Chance Game. Licence Needed?

    Hi,

I'm about to start development of a Football Fixtures Change Game (online based) for a client, and am very perplexed by the entire gambling licence information set out there. The game is available to UK residents, but can be hosted anywhere.

From what I can discern, I would need to obtain a licence from the government in which the physical servers are in residence. And moreover, this is a lottery game where a user plays £2, and depending on the outcome of certain football fixture sets, they are granted a share of the winning pot.

    Thank you in advance,
    Myk

Gambling/ gaming licenses are a massive knot of rules and to be honest you are best off advising your client to speak to a solicitor for this area of law; I certainly would never give a client legal advice!!

Alternatively either visit the Gambling Commission website or phone them during office hours on 0121 230 6666. Things are more complex than simply where your servers are.
