I found a one word .com domain (dictionary word) available. It is 8 character. What price could be expected for such domain name, approximately. Is it worth registering?

It could be worth reg. fee or more depending on the word. That's like asking how much you would pay for a car without knowing how old it is, the make, and condition.

If it is a .com and hasn't been registered, I doubt it has much, if any, value.

if its a obscure word that no one cares about or knows i wouldn't reg it....if it's semi decent, where a site might be able to be built on it, then i might go ahead and register it.
