This is very rude.. if you ever want to get some quality work out of some of the people on this site, and others alike, I would suggest changing your attitude. Nobody is going to design for you if you're going to be rude to everyone. Unfortunately for you, it's too late for that. werd
So, some clown moderator now has "cleaned up" this thread and removed the retarded contest holder´s sub zero remarks and middle finger image. This is simply 100% unfunny and unprofessional and another reason to avoid this forum.
As a Graphic Designer with a bachelor's degree actually IN Graphic Design (not like all of you schmoes here who think of yourselves as designers just because you can follow a tutorial in photoshop and download free fonts from dafont.com), I can honestly tell you that it's YOUR fault you're not getting what you want, Capricious. You're simply being cheap. $50 for a professional logo? Nuh uh, not happening. Yes, you can GET a logo for $50 dollars but is it going to be exactly what you want? Is it going to look GOOD? No. No, it is not. Why? Because professional graphic designers with any ounce of self-respect for what they do, DON'T DO SPEC WORK. We're not going to sit here and waste our time creating a logo that you will only pay for if you like it. You came to a bidding forum for crappy "designers," what did you think you were going to get? The closest anyone has come to a truly original and thoughtful logo is Pixobox. That first logo of theirs is actually quite good. The typography needs a lot of work, but they are onto something with the symbol. I've been looking through threads on this forum after stumbling upon it through this webpage: http://justcreativedesign.com/2008/05/22/why-logo-design-does-not-cost-5-dollars/ What have I noticed? Once the contest holder critiques a particular persons logo saying that they liked it, or that they were on the right track, EVERYONE else starts churning out logos that look exactly like that. Literally no variation. It's quite hilarious, really. Especially so when the "client" explicitly says to NOT COPY EACH OTHER.
Well done, scholar. You really put my MA in Applied Economics to shame.. No, wait, you just have another junk degree that will become obsolete in several years time. To everyone else, go away, leave my thread alone.. I'm putting my money on the line, I've paid people before as you can see from my iTrader, I will give feedback in a manner that I feel is necessary. Some of the entries since last night haven't been as God-awful as the first few so maybe there is some hope yet..
They maibe not in your taste Capricious, but writing what you wrote it was very rude. I am not seeing myself having to deal with a difficult and rude person such yourself, for a miserable 50dls. I also have a degree... and do this for part times here and there, plus is good to put your knowledge allways on top. You want better, you pay better. I do aggree with Bokuno over there. So for that reason... i am out! Thank You Typingmum to let me know and warning me abt it...
Haha, yeah...your MA in Applied Economics sure does help you with all your design projects. Oh wait- apparently it doesn't since you're here on this forum wasting your time with those who are retarded enough to post a design in your flamewar...I mean, "contest." None of these people are going to be able to create a logo that you truly want because they are not going to take the time to get to know you or what you do or try and solve your design problem creatively and with originality. And not only that, but the way you treat them already turns everyone off to you. You come off as this bitch client from hell that no one wants to work with because you have such unrealistic expectations, especially so of the type of sub-par quality "designer" that frequents a forum like this. Don't expect to get any future "work" done here...I doubt people are going to put up with your shit anymore (and the ones that will are going to be the shittiest of the lot). Stop being a fucking cheapskate and hire a professional. $50 isn't going to get you a good logo because no self-respecting designer does spec work.
In my defense.. I enjoy making websites as a hobby and a summer job. I am 17 and I know that I suck at logos. I am better at web designs. The only way to get better is to practice.. so when you see people posting logos that are bad it's because they are practicing.. and need your positive criticism to improve their skills. Negative remarks get you no where.
There´s no need to excuse. Neither 50, 500 nor 5 trillion dollars buy anyone the right to insult people. Trust me, your first draft is actually pretty good. The approach to keep it simple to express efficiency as well as a quick and rational quality of a business like this is perfectly reasonable, especially when it´s so focussed on precision, language and the written word. Studying graphic design makes nobody a graphic designer, practice does - in some cases. Look at what professional logo designers produce like over here: http://www.designtagebuch.de/category/logos/ You possibly won´t understand the texts, but there aren´t any bells and whistles attached to their logos. Logo design is the art of reduction.
Yea I'm 15 and I design so I can better myself. In the future when I attend college I'm going to get a degree on Graphic Design. I do this for fun and I can use the extra money. But some people do this for their job and they are not going to pay there work for a low-price contest. But i can do a lot with 50 dollars.
I agree that a graphic designer is not a graphic designer without practice. Just because someone has a degree doesn't mean that they are good. They probably know about how to produce a good design, but then they have to take those learned skills and apply them. I took a "computer graphics" class a couple years back through school, which was a joke, but I did learn some basics about art and how to create a design that draws the eye toward the content. In no way could I have randomly taken that class and bettered myself.. I practiced outside of class which did more for me than the class. It's all about practice, classes are just stepping stones.
