I am building another link exchange site, this one like my others will be automatic, as soon as the return link is verifified, your link will be added, but this one will be 3 way links. Everyone seems really excited about non-recips so I need to try to cash in ... Anyways, my problem is that I don't have enough sites of the same types to make all the link back relevant, like if you link to a vacation rental site, you get a link back from a sports site. My question is what gets you more excited a relavant link or a one way link? Will getting a bunch of links 3 way quickly and easily, override hesitations to linking out to a less related site?
Think you will get a different answer for this. I like them both but the best link I ever got was a relavant link that sent a ton of traffic so I guess relavant is the way to go (but of course difficult to get a good one).
Getting links from related sites and linking to related sites is what matters most. RELEVANCY is the key and it's logical.
I just curious but why do you think that? I knows its logical but do the serps show that? http://www.google.com/search?q=link:http://www.lendingtree.com/ http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=link:http://www.lendingtree.com/+-site:lendingtree.com These are the backlinks to the nubmer 1 site for the term refinance mortgage How many links do you see that are from mortgage sites?
Ferret, you asked us to choose between relevant links and three-way links. I won't speak for netaddict, but my answer was based on: 1. my belief that three-way linking is a completely unnecessary exercise 2. my belief that relevant links are probably already and certainly in due course will be given more weight - that is not the same as saying that non-relevant links are valueless, at least not at present and perhaps never - just that they are or will be of lower value than relevant links
Personally I think it is too, but the masses seem to think differently Sometimes I think that also but then I look at the backlinks of top ranked sites, and very rarely or ever do I see all relevant links, even a majority of relevant links I hate to say this, and i gave glengara a hard time one time because he said it, but I think google is using more human review on competitive searches, I have no affilate sites that rank in google anymore, but yet my old client sites, although some dropped this last update, seem to hold their terms way better even thought they are optmized pretty much identically.
That is exactly what I feel too, plus, if you get relevant links you can expect actual and targetted traffic through those links.
