I love titles... I have been studying the affect of one way links and I must say I have seen some pretty poor results lately. I think by now everyone can get a one way link from a link builder in India or other country. We have all seen how your link appears in a directory style site on a page that may or may not have any PR. Most people out there don't realize that they look entirely spammy and I believe one day soon they will be a thing of the past just like high PR or reciprocals. I love the people that use the same link text over and over. Or even the same descriptions. So how does one deal with the problem? Good question. Like some of you out there I have been experimenting with different forms of link building and it seems that Google has devalued the worth of a "purchased" link. I'm sure links coming from normal websites will always carry value but those aren't readily available for purchasing. We have created a few programs like article marketing and press release marketing and have seen fantastic results. And of course we have a couple secret weapons at our disposal that do a great job at providing relevant one way links embeded in articles from normal sites. But what do you guys think? Have your links been working? Have you been checking? Fearful of Google's Orion algo?
I don't agree that google as of right now can devalue purchased links altogether. There rankings would absolutely fall apart if this was the case. Link buying still can move authority sites like they always could. The question here is do purchased links help brand new sites like they used to.
Purchasing links can still work well - as long as you make it look natural and get links from quality sites, and PR does not mean quality. Its also good to build links naturally too through viral marketing, press releases, and just telling webmasters who'd be interested about your site.
Well I think there is a value scale. Take a look at this example... www.novahomeloans.com and one of their link pages here This is a horrible example of someone trying to build SEO for a company. No keyword rich text in the link and a scummy page with ads everywhere. I took a peek at all of their backlinks and most of their links are the URL or Nova Home Loans. It's really sad that they probably paid an arm and a leg for the service and I bet you the SEO said "Sure, I'll rank you for Home Loans." It's a sad reality that the good SEO companies out there deal with the aftermath of horrible link building. As for authority sites. I would never buy "rented" links. I think we all know that the major companies that are selling these types of links have leaked the URLs enough to frighten me out of renting them.
I'm just waiting for the day when the IBL's weigh in way less than they do now and the Orion stuff kicks in.... Fall 2007? One way to get ahead of whats coming with Orion is getting the quality IBL's from all over the place like Cubeman suggested: I remember reading that some of Orions Algo will put more weight/focus into the content of the websites that are GIVING you IBLS. IMO this is going to devalue many of those directory links people are relying heavily on now. Afraid of Orion? No. Looking forward to it? Yes.
