You can submit your site to a free directory first to geto one-way inbound links. Most of sites which has some relation to your business niche are your competitors, they won't let you have links on their site for FREE. You may have to bargain or to pay.
The best way is, identfy blogs that are in the same niche and offer to write a guest post. Bloggers (Serious ones) always look for free and good content. In return you will have a backlink from quality sites.
If you are looking for good quality backlinks from your same niche, for FREE, I think you need to work hard on it. Most of the bloggers will not give you links so easily. You need to be a regular visitor and commentor on those blogs, be friendly each time you visit or comment. very true.. they're just giant link farms and google knows this.. Your efforts would be much more effective writing articles and submitting them to moderated sites.
