    depend on your link, reciprocal link with related niche always more valuable then one way link from directory site that has just been born and without traffic. so it depends..

    One way link is more effective than reciprocal link. Because Google is thinking that the reciprocal link building is an agreement between sites. Google prefer natural links from good neighborhood.

    if google think reciprocal links are based on agreement then will they ban the site? obviously i have ads in my site. will it harm my adsense account?

    anyone who talks down reciprocal are not paying attention. with reciprocals you only do it to businesses that are in your niche, therefore you get authority links back to you.

    most one way links are from junk sites or forums that have nothing to do with your business. Sure you arent losing juice by pointing to them, but we all know google prefers same industry links to your site.

    One way links that are niche related are great, but unrelated one way are almost worthless. Reciprocal links with related content are much better than one way links that are completely unrelated.
