he has other customers paying for the normal price. that will support the cost for the 6 promotional accounts

also, he's projecting more customers after this because if his service proves to be superb, it will spread to other prospective customers also

If he is not over selling he will have no more room on the server fo any more accounts..

if he has 4x 750 hard drives that equals 3000 gb of space.
He sells 6 accounts with 500gb of space that is 3000gb of space there is no more hard drive left...for any paying customers.

i didnt see any post from him in this thread saying he won't oversell the promotional accounts. maybe he's not overselling in his other servers and only in this server

he has multiple servers remember. hes putting all promotional accounts in one server and the normal clients in other server

he has already the resources at hand because he was able to gain profit from his customers paying at the normal price.

as Vivek would say, time will tell so we will all see after a few months even years perhaps

Plus, if he isnt overselling the bandwidth, then 5 TB x 6 = 30 TB which requires 100mbps dedicated port which will cost around $1500 - $2000 per month

that's the reason why you have TOS on your hosting services

even unmetered providers do this.. you both must understand how the bandwidth works because you two are giving unmetered accounts

PM sent, responded to and signed up.

Waiting for a reply (PM here) in regards to my question.

But companies over sell hosting packages like confetti and hope that the customers who have taken up the offer do not use all the space and bandwidth.

I dont intend to use the bandwidth or space but my current hosting of a small site is due to be renewed and this was an ideal package for me.

    Regards.

Hm.. you must understand what is the right meaning of unmetered in a shared hosting environment. We have TOS for our server's better performance, uptime, stability, and also preventing abuse. You cant understand these things because you dont know the trouble for managing a server with high reliability, uptime and performance.

By unmetered,we dont mean that we have 100mbps dedicated port. Study things. :)

exactly! and that's what hosts who oversell do, so please do not ask me to study things because I have been with several hosts already and I have studied each of the company's set up and how they would like their business to become.

did he mention anything about owning a 100mbps dedicated port? I didnt read anything about it. You are assuming a lot of things just because of this promo.

Let's give this guy a break and we will judge when the right time comes :)

I echo what Realist had just said.

Your website is still down. How many accounts will be on that server?
Can I use it for image hosting? Or file hosting?

First of all, a reboot wont take 2 hours.
then, php4 and php5 update , There is no need for a server reboot. Just a httpd restart is enough.

I hope it will be ok soon :D

There was a minor issue with one of the HDDs on our newest server 67.205.89.49. It had to be replaced and we have everything backed up and currently restoring. It will be back up within the next 30 minutes.

Deeply apologize for the downtime as this had never happened since we came online. We've also done further checks for performance and stability to ensure that downtime will not occur again under these circumstances.

Once again, my apologies on behalf of the company.

Please feel free to add our manager on MSN messenger:

    To answer your question Xin,

image hosting and file hosting is not allowed on our shared plans. Please review our Terms at http://www.forciumhosting.com/terms.php

Update: Server server has been brought back up and is fully operational. :)

ok, if filehosting is not allowed, why do you even offer 500Gb storage space?

how can you ever file 500 gb with html/gif/jpeg etc
nice offer, but useless if i must say, make your offer 50gb or so, without these stupid limitations

Many shared hosting plans do not support file hosting or image hosting websites. We allow it on our Reseller plans however.

You can go buy a dedicated server or a VPS.

We are currently adding 3 more additional 750GB Hard Drives to this server.

The server will be down for the time being but will be back up and operational within the next hour.

Thats right. Opening the cabin and inserting 3 hard disk will not take more than 15-20 minutes.

We do not house our own servers nor are any of our staff/technicians are physically there at the datacenter. One hour is the maximum downtime for this procedure. I am not saying it will take one hour exactly.
