Greetings all, actually, I cannot tell for sure what puts web geeks apart from the rest of the world. But I think, if you consider yourself a geek you at least should know the geek vocabulary, and in particular, web abbreviations. So, I compiled a list of all the abbreviations that came to my mind. If you have yours, please add to the list. Well, here it is: HTH -- Hope this helps TIA -- Thanks in advance BRB -- Be right back NP -- No problem AFAIK -- As far as I know FYI -- For your info RTFM -- Read the fu**ing manual KISS -- Keep it simple, stupid IMHO -- In my humble opinion GTG -- Got to go ASAP -- As soon as possible AKA -- Also known as BTW -- By the way OMG -- Oh my God! WYSIWYG -- What you see is what you get HTH
Hmm I think one doesn't have to use all of them. These are just what I'm using. Actually, your 9,000+ posts in this forum tell about your web-geek-ness more than those 5 acronyms IMHO
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Internet_slang_phrases its a whole list of Internet Slang I use only a few of them though
Using ancronuyms is a great fun though i only know 3-4 of them. lol will try to learn as more as i can in future. thanks for sharing the list. you made
actually after all these years, i have started to use all these acronyms lately! but then i don't really consider myself a geek, perhaps it will take time, hey, 8every! perhaps it's time we should take the wacko training so that we can be certified geeks!
STFU! I only use about 4.4 of them, though I am familiar or at least heard of all of them. I need some micro post it notes to put on my LT so I remember them though
That was helpful...I've been wondering what IMHO means for a while now...LOL I was afraid to ask...don't want to look stupid..haha! (my guess was in my honest opinion)
From that list I realized that "bump" stood for "bring up my post" I always just figured it only meant you were bumping your post. The word itself makes sense. Nice to know there's an acronym as well.
