One site multiple Hosts (Different IPs)

I know about CDN systems where we can have one site loaded on main servers and content(static) like js/images/css on other servers for better speed

now my Question to all u admins is:
Is it possible to have a site HOSTED On 2 different servers with same content

    in other words

can i have a site where in I have 2 servers Suppose Server 1 and 2.

Server 1 is powerful one than 2nd and when server 1 is up and running all users see the site available on server 1 and as and when server 1 goes down...i need Server 2 to take charge, even if it shows some offline message , its fine but Site should nt return Server not found kind of exception!

    Any possibilitieS?

Putting DNS Of both servers will be risk as some ISP may chosse Server2 over 1 and site would appear offline to all

    Let me know the possibilities
    Thanks DP members

yes round robin DNS is not what you want. What you're better off looking at is cloud hosting if you're worried about one site going down and no one being able to view your content.
Cloud hosting setup correctly should bring downtime to 0 because there SHOULD never be a single point of failure.

google for a provider. there are a few out their
simply what it does it monitor IP #1, if it goes down it changes your main A record to IP #2. (however the time it takes to do this, and re-delegate your A record is not instant),

In complete honestly, i believe the only way to get redundancy in your web-hosting is to change to a cloud host.

@ PsyHost and Techmafia - "Cloud hosting setup correctly should bring downtime to 0 because there SHOULD never be a single point of failure. "

Yes - that'll sum it all up. The cloud handles all the allocations required so your site won't go down, not even any CPU usage suspensions, ever.

If you let me know what you need, I may be able to work something out for you, providing it is realistic. :)
