One seo question

One link question, when I exchange links, my link txt is link to index page, or link to the keyword page? Which is better?
Example: crystal shtray or crystal ashtray?

Not quite sure about your question. Are you saying that which page should the link point to, main page or subpage?

SERPs give more priority to home page. And if your anchor text is what the whole website topic is about, I encourage you to link to mainpage. But if you have created subpages on specific sub-topics or secondary keywords, then use these sub-topic or secondary keywords to link to these subpages. I hope you understand.

Example:

www.dogtraining.com - use anchor text "dog training" to link

www.dogtraining.com/dogtrainingcentre - use anchor text "dog training centre" to link to this page.

you need to build up the link popularity for both your home page and deeper pages also.

i would recommend that you optimise the deeper page for the specific keywords relating to the item itself.

ie link crystal ashtray to the product page not to the home page

 

definitely the second one...try to rank each page for its main keyword

 

For which page you want to increase the link popularity i mean for which page you want to get the backlinks and traffic ........

 

basically whichever you wanna promote more on the search engine. It's your selection, which ever you want to be ranked more or at present.

 

I prefer to improved first the backlinks of indexed page. I think if you have many quality backlinks pointing to indexed page it will also pass value to inner pages.

 

The later, however you may find that the second page outranks your main site, which can be annoying

 

Depends which page you want to optimize for that keyword. If you are selling crystal ashtray on the (second page) inner page, than pointing the keyword to that exact page will raise the % of selling that product and heading the visitor to right page of the product he wants.

While if you want your visitors to be kinda lost and find more than just crystal ashtray products than pointing to the homepage where he will have more products listed will do the job.

Any backlink is welcome, but, in my opinion, depends from what website, PR of that website AND, what u want to increase! If u get a BL from a website with a strong PR, point it to the index !

 

Optimizing the wrong keywords will get nowhere. make more research about SEO...thanks
