One question here

    I just have a question here.Sorry if it looks like a noob question :D but

    What are the legal implications of owning a blogger or WP name of well known companies or events?
    Like say fifa2006.blogspot.com or walmart.blogspot.com or say olympics2008.blogspot.com if they are available

    Are you open to legal complications,especially if you move to monetize the website.Isn't it illegal since you are basically cashing in on that brand name??

    My apologies if this has been discussed here before.I tried searching for it,but to no avail.

    It is a non-issue because you are not trying to portray the site as the company. If you say bad things about the company on it, you may receive legal notice that you wont want to fight just because they dont want people to say bad things. However, if you are not doing any wrong, they will leave you alone.

    Then why do I not see many young entreprenuers register these names?? and develop em
    Or do the organisations snap them up before anybody else???

    So do I suppose that this is perfectly legal and I am not running on the wrong side of the law.
    If there is any DP member who is a lawyer,he /she is free to comment on this
