One product - do I need a shopping cart?

I'm making a website with one single product for sale, in a single, 2-pack and 3-pack version.

Will probably use Joomla since I know that CMS, although I only have a few pages.

Do I need a shopping cart SW (Virtuemart?) or should I simply use Paypal to create a button and check-out option on one of the pages?
In the latter case, would I be able to track PPC ROI using Google Analytics?

Sice your potential customer may choose different version, you'd better set up a shopping cart SW.
I recommend you Magento、oscommerce or zen cart. They are all the most famous softwares.By the
way,Google Analytics can help you find many things such as resource of the flows、searching keywords、
customer information、benchmarking、Bounce Rate and other things, it's also useful. You can evaluate
PPC ROI by these information. So if you know how to install it, you can also have a try to see the effect.

Thank you for agreeing with me.Maybe the guy can just install the SW to see the effect. What's more,he can also ask for comments from visitors on his website by some ways.As you know, all for customers, customers first!

Hey now we can create a simple shopping cart in Joomla using RokQuickCart from Rockettheme. It's free component. So if you only want to sell few downloadable items this component is suitable for you. check out a sample page of this simple shopping carts here http://joomlamini.com/minimalist-store.html.
    How is that?

No. You do not need a shopping cart.
Paypal buttons provide the possibility to choose between a several number of options using a single button.
This is what I do in one of my websites that has only 1 product in 4 versions. You will have to use their IPN (Instant Payment Notification) feature to know which product your client purchased, i'm not sure though how this works with joomla as I don't know joomla at all.

Don't go for a shopping cart it's useless and some customers might even get confused when they see a shopping cart for 1 product.A shopping cart is used when you have more products for sale .Try using a simple PayPal button and customize it a little(change it's look).

PayPal would be an easy solution or Google CheckOut. You can just post their "Buy Now" button code into the page where the product is and you're done.

You have to set up your checking account, enter the 2 small deposits they make into your account and finish the set up process before getting the code though. Take about 3 days.

I would prefer a "buy now" option rather than a "Add to Cart" option for 1 product site..

    my 2 cents :)

You might be adding more products in the near future, who knows. So a shopping cart may be a good idea. Or just have it ready in case the need for it arises.

Definitely get a shopping cart. Paypal or Google Checkout is tacky.

shopping carts appeal to all markets, new users assume that clicking on chekcout pays straight away , but a shopping cart clearlys says you can look at your products before you by them

I believe it depends on your market and what you feel will work with them. In other words you can test with paypal versus a shopping cart and see what converts best.

If you are planning on adding more products in the future than a shopping cart is a good investment.

Use tradebit, if you use paypal it can easily be hack.

Ps tradebit supports paypal, but it adds extra security
