One Page Websites, good or bad idea?

I've been debating whether or not I should change the outlook of one of my websites. It's a one-pager. The thing is I'm not sure if one page websites do well with search engines or if I'm just being paranoid. I just wanted to get people's opinions on one page websites. Do you think it's harmful when getting traffic or no big issue?

For a squeeze page one page works and if that page is EMD it will work well for that RE SEO, but SEO for one page websites it's pretty hard for too much in regards to diversity of phrases as you are obviously limited somewhat

unless you get linked from some big partners, PR5+, one page websites will be hard to rank in Google

Depends what the page actually is. I have a large one page personal website (Mostly, extra flash and images are the exception) and it isn't harder to rank IMHO. The only scenario in which it would be harder to rank would be if you are not writing as much content as you would have on a normal layout site.
