If I am a member of more than 1 affiliate program, would it be better to, on a given page, put links to two affiliates that have similar (but separate) products, or just choose one affiliate per page? For example, a single page about web hosting. Would you put one affiliate link for a hosting-only company, and another affiliate link for a doman-registration-only company? What if the companies both offered both services? Would you link to specific pages on each to avoid overlap, or link to two competing companies and let the strongest survive? Or would you only use one affiliate link per page? I am making a website and for each page, I can choose between competing companies that offer similar (but not identical) products, or just pick one per page... (not about web hosting, that was just an example) (All this assumes the TOS for both affiliate companies are cool with mixing links like that. This question is just for CTRs ONLY.)
i dont see a problem... the merchant wants the sale, they dont care bout much else, you care bout the commision... the user sees helpful targeted ads instead of one.... its win-win-win
You can use all strategies, just make it relevant. If you talk about hosting in general, then put maybe top pick + link to top ranked hosts. If it's top ranked hosts page then list them and give details on each with links to them.
Play with them. Try to see what converts best for you. It depends on your website and your traffic I think
Thanks for the replies, guys. I really like this idea, have a kind of top pick link, then list others below. I'll experiment with different things though.
