Number of returned websites is not always the best measurement for the level of the competitiveness. Works in this case though :D

I guess you just proved how important it is to have the keywords in the title tag as well as the link... Interesting though... If this was a competative keyword things would be different.

maybe the site has previously had content and right now it is just down?

but i'm leaning towards its just a non competitive keyword

Well, the page has the advantage of the whole term in its url and in the title. Look at the other sites in the list, none of them are targeting for the term. Means the keyword is less competitive.

that explains it all . Hail google!!

    It is normal..
Most of the articles in my blog come in 1st position in google.

    The secret is:
    1) Write quality contents daily.
    2) Good ads placement

The competition on this term is only 165 pages according to Google.

This coupled with the site being 2 years old - (aged domains have more authority) - plus the sites domain name is an exact match for its keywords.

    Simple really!

no just by having the url match the keyword will not get you top position, as he said earlier its noncompetitive and thats why.. and now google has changed its algor again which will not give you as much value to title tags if they match the H1 title and page title and url, if anything it will consider this page as seo optimised and you will get less than more.
