    Nothing unusual there:

    1. The keyword phrase Silicon Valley SEO is noncompetitive. It receives zero searches daily, per WordTracker.

    2. The keywords are in the domain name.

Quite easy to rank #1 if items 1. and 2. above apply.

It is normal, you are using your domain name, it comes first page.

Your keyword is domain name, that is less competitive.

Its quite normal. When your domain name and your keywords matches, you can be on top ;). This happens to any site which matches the keywords with the domain name!!

The title of the page is "Silicon Valley SEO" - a very important factor too. I doubt if the domain name would be enough on its own to get a #1 rank, but with an exact match for the keywords in the page title - no problem.

I thin it ranks because the Keyword is in the domain and on the page, plus no one else is probably link building for it

It's not my site. I just wanted to show that a site without content can rank well when only applying a few SEO principals.

Thats a search with keywords in domain.
Like Jim said, its a noncompetitive long-tail keyword.

I think it can be a good domain for a SEO company
    working in the Silicon Valley.
So you can try to sell this domain on E-Bay.

Its very simple. When your domain name and your keywords matches, you can be on top and get good rank.

I guess you would always hope to rank reasonably well for your domain name, no matter how competitive

I never said that it was a highly competitive search. It just goes to show the basic SEO can go a long way and how links are not very important when you are Geo-targeting your pages.

Its unfortunate that google allows a site with no content to be #1, regardless of the domain / page title. The site isn't useful to anyone so it should be considered a garbage result. That's something that needs tweaking in google's algorithm so people don't waste their time clicking on it. I'm sure there's other sites under those keywords with more worthwhile content.
