One-off fee Directories, not so one-off after all

I've seen directories charge one-time fees (that's what they say on websites) of eg: £70, only to charge a recurring fee instead. I believe if you make a promise then it should be kept, or it just stinks.

Anyone pay for what they thought to be a one-time fee, then discover otherwise?

the owner should set the time period to unlimited,
anyway you might ask the owner for clarify before payment.

People shouldn't have to ask, information like that ought to be on these sites.

I usually click away if I don't find such basic information. :)

If the language is misleading, I'd first contact the owner and work with the webmaster to have the additional payments reversed/canceled. Alternatively, I'd go to a fraud disupute with PayPal or Visa (very easy with digital delivery products) if: (1) The ower was unwilling to help resolve the situation and (2) the dispute was warrented by misleading payment information. Best of luck to you!
