I saw a quote on another thread and it really points out the enormous value in buying directory review/listings.
once again it is all about converting your traffic, not getting PageRank. Driving quality targetted traffic into your site...this is all what matters in the end.
We where all blinded by "PR" ....Yip even me Now we see its not really even worth mentioning In the end ... Traffic = potential $ale$ thx malcolm
Some traffic doesn't cost more than 5 cents per visitor, it all depends on the niche. But I agree, this would be the answer to "how much do I charge" question that is being asked once in a while.
everything eventually falls in its place. Hows the project coming? I couldn't get to what i have to due to some serious changes/additions to what I am currently working on.
Yip it always does .... No major rush robb we are still getting the lists together as well as tying in the rest of the network directories soooooo... give or take a week no rush PS... im expecting that an0n "touch" to bring out the best in that template thx malcolm
very well said. Directory does send traffic especially when your directory ranks well in search engine. Like http://www.dirwizard.com/detail/link-173.html you can see about 21 genuine hits in 8 months but most important it only charges for a one-time fee.
w3bmaster it is true for good general directories too because when someone clicks on a listing it is usually because they were led there by a relvant search either in a search engine or in the directory itself. I do agree that traffic from niche directories is probably better though. Bottom line is that if you pay a solid directory a one-time review fee of $xx in the long-run whatever traffic you recieve will be a bargain.
I've done the adwords thing myself and turned it off after 3 months. It just didn't convert enough customers. Then I started submitting to free directories. After a month or two I was getting a consistent hit or two from a few of the directories and within about 6 months my site was ranking in google for some fairly competitive keywords. Once that happened I started getting links from sites I'd never heard of. Now I don't pay for any advertising and I have a lot more traffic. Long story even longer, start by trying to get your site noticed through directories and it will start the trickle of hits you need to get more links and more traffic. If you can find high traffic directories the hits will come a lot faster.
freelistfool sounds typical and those results are great. I would only add the suggestion that spending a few bucks on some good featured links can also help a lot.
