Are there any rules? If not, I would first buy some negotiable item worth $1million, then spend the rest slowly over the next N years! If this is a Brewster's Millions question, then I could always by a million pixels from someone!
If i had a million there are loads of things i would like to do with it but the sensible thing would be to invest it
whoa you all want to invest it eh? hmm i will just spend it on cars, clothes, going out.. just have fun . And i won't forget to give something like 100,000 to amnesty.. for real
I'd invest $250,000 into income funds to generate roughly $2000 in monthly income for me to live off of. I would spend $400,000 on a decent size home for my family. $25,000 to pay off exsiting debt. $25,000 to go on a trip to vegas $100,000 to go to Vancouver Women's and Children's Hospital (it's a hospital specialize in women/infant care here. It's the best in the country and they helped my family on more than one occasion). $100,000 to revinest into my business activites. $50,000 to invest in various education savings programs for my daughter. $25,000 to my wife to do whatever the hell she wants with it. $25,000 to buy a mansion in some 3rd world country in europe so my family can travel there every year and explore europe for a month.
I'd buy 1 million lottery tickets. All scratch offs. Hopefully I'd come out ahead, cuz if I didn't, I wouln;t have money left to help me fix the carpal tunnel I just developed
The original question asked if we had $1M to spend what would we do, it never mentioned tax so I assumed it was post-tax. Otherwise I'd only have $450,000 (damn canadian taxes lol)
That's exactly what I would do, except that 1 mill would be a bit too much, i would do some math and buy at least , I think, only 1,000$ in scratch offs, if the prizes suck, I would do some more math for the picking numbers and buy tickets with every number order possible... 100,000$? :S
