Long or short would depend on a few things:
1.) What is the page about. If I am looking at a scripts index of javascripts then I might prefer all "mouse effects" scripts listed on one "long" page and then linked to complete script downloads or copy paste. There should be categories for the type of scripts like-- page Effects, mouse effects, open windows etc.

    2. ) If it's a sales copy page, I might not risk loosing a potential buyer just so my site looks more categorised. I am trying hard to convince him on something and then suddenly asking him to "click here to continue" is not sanity. ( if he is really interested, he may continue but if he is only starting to getting interested, he may not and there goes a sale.)

3.) If the articles are about 2 topics which are related but different, (example : On page optimization, link popularity), then I would put them on 2 pages and ask the reader to continue for a deeper analysis of SEO. This way they can easily switch between pages and topics instead of scrolling and more scrolling and more scrolling and more scrolling , and more scrolling ...

Sometimes it's better to go with long pages and sometimes one may wish to divide the content to provide the reader a better experience.

    regards

    This is a grand argument.

Offline, long copy works better than short.

Online Short works better than long. As long as you can create an effective call to action and credibility.

i would suggest that you use short copy to define your specific points. you can optimise those pages to specific keyword phrases. that may draw traffic to your site. Let that each of those pages link to the other aspects of your "conversation".

Create a good link structure between the pages so that they support each other with relevent anchor text.

Each of the pages of short copy should totally explain the points they are targeting and lead to any of the other articles you have written.

Since you can't control how the person will enter your site, you will need to have each page work as an independent starting point for your sales pitch.

Remeber though, that you never want your visitor to be more than 3 clicks from the final offer.

That is why i suggest to also create a long copy page that says it all. On this page you could eliminate some of the redundancy that you had to create on the other short pages.

This long copy page will work well for the visitor who only wants to use your site a an informational tool (very few people go online to intentionally buy something). If your information is good, they'll be back.

Most people take between 7-11 impressions to make a purchase (otherwise Coke would have quit advertising a long time ago).

Once you have written your long copy, you should also convert it to a PDF. Offer that copy as a download from all of your pages on the website.

The SEs love PDFs. Plus, if you can get an email address in exchange for your download, you might have another chance to give that person some more valuble info about your site and products in the near future.

I would go for several pages and optimize them well with white hat techniques and link them with optimized Anchor rexts.
