dear digitalpoint forum members, i am about to start a quite huge link building campaign. the question is, which is a better anchor text for the links that will point to my site - having one or more keywords? here is an example (keywords changed of course): * hosting * hosting and domain * hosting and domain for small business so will my page rank lower for "hosting", if the link anchors contain more words? thanks for your answer, andris --
I have read that the anchor text should be varied so that the effect looks more natural - ie don't have 400 links all saying "hosting and domain". This would mean that you should use all three examples. Do other people agree?
You definitely need to vary your anchor text. A good place to start looking for additional keywords are the suggestions of "related searches" often provided in the SERP pages. Use about 5 different keywords, but use your highest priority keyword most often. Good luck!
I think that the second one is just fine because the first surely have lots of competitors and the last has little to nothing searching for it.
I would never focus on just one keyword, although I suppose you could since you've chosen such a highly competitive keyword. If you are going to launch a "huge link building campaign" you could potentially set off a red flag with Google if they think it's unusual that suddenly there are thousands of links in one month all with the same anchor text.
You should rotate your anchor text from time to time. Having all links with the exact same anchor text is just not natural.
As others have said, go after several keywords at once. Vary up your link anchor text using these different target keywords. You want your links to look as natural as possible. If you use a mix of low and medium level competitiveness keywords, you will gradually get rankings for some of those keywords. Then you can gradually expand to using different words in your link anchor text. Don't just point all of those links to your homepage though. This will look spammy to the search engines. Also don't build up links too quickly. Try to establish a consistent pace that you will be able to manage for a while.
I agree with zexy and vansterdam if you do not vary your anchor text your link-building strategy will look unnatural and it may end up having a negative effect on your rankings.
Use only limited different key words (1 to 3). coz total number of back links consider for the SE rankings.
