Hello, I have one website hosted by one domain, which is great in terms of SEO. Now I want to upgrade and offer more languages and serve more than one region (offering distinct products and articles for different regions). The challange now is to implement the whole link structure in a user- and SEO-friendly way. My idea is to have a region and language select on the frontpage domain.com, which contains a dynamic meta-tag-redirect to the appropriate folder depending on recognized browser language and country of the IP address. E.g. I visit domain.com an see the language/region select page for a blink of an eye. The paramaters are recognized and I will be redirected to domain.com/region1/engl or domain.com/region2/engl. Is this a good solution in terms of SEO?
I think such an automatic redirection would have negative impact on your SEO. Why not just let the visitors choose where to go? Have a nice day,
Because I do not want users to select their region every time they visit the page. How annoying would that be?
This is a bit wrong thread to past your issue at - but here is my answer: You would ideally want to have separate subdomains - they are easier to manage and more seo friendly.
