One day in London - what should I do?

I have a business trip to London coming up between May 14 - 19. I've never been to London before and have one day (Friday May 18th) to see the city. I would like some suggestions about what to do or see during my day off.

So if you had only one shot to see London, what would you see or do?

There is a city tour available. You can get more information from the airport. Don't forget to visit Lords, Thames, tube rail.

There are some very good tours in open-topped double-decker buses round the whole of central London, with running commentary. They take up something between two and three hours. Some of them start and finish around Piccadilly Circus in the West End. There are many competing bus companies organising these things, and some are considerably better than others. Since you're visiting for a business trip, you will presumably be staying at a hotel where you will perhaps be able to get tourist information, and a recommendation for a particular company's tour? It's a very good way to see a lot in a shortish space of time. Enjoy your trip. :)

Visit the Science Museum and the Natural History Museum. The only places I liked in London. And I lived there for 18 months. :)

An open-topped double-decker bus tour sounds like good advice to me, if you've only got 1 day.

Funny - yesterday I was in London for 16 hours between flights.
I would have gone to check out the city.. but I ended up staying with family :p

As was already suggested, go out and do some sight seeing :D
