One click 6 cent, one click $2.9 - Google is smart?

My site CPM runs from $0.5 to $1, at about 0.5% CTR - Is it very low?

This is what happened today, and my theory.

When I got up, checking, there is about 3000 PV, but only 2 clicks, total $0.10

I was then checking my site to see if there is something wrong, just all ads become more prone to images ads (I set it up ads and image)

Then when I went back to check Adsense earning, WOW, a click for $2.9 (the highest I have before is around $1.5)

So the CPM is now about $1.

Do you think Google trying to make sure each site CPM stable? I mean if they know historically, your site CPM is $1. They will try to match it by some either big or small value clicks?

I really have no idea of the $2.9 click. I thought if people keep bidding (I have only 5 links), and the maximum should be around $.5 (Niche CPC is $.2), and adding .05 for each higher bid ads

Earning is different for different types of click by google.
Also it is different in different types of country.
In some countries, through per click, you will get good money but in some other countries you will get less money.

We are getting similar rates as well. $.05 for the lowest, highest have been 3-5 dollars. CTR is around .9% though.

it depends on your website content that effects the ads. I would say the ecpm are low. My lowest was $10 for half a day.

drewboy, what you mean "I would say the ecpm are low. My lowest was $10 for half a day." I thought expm is not based on time. What is normal CTR, I am still wondering, someone say 10%, and CPM $50? .50 per click? Seriously?
