One Blog... or Many?

I have been wrestling with this for a while and would appreciate some advice.

I have a personal blog. To avoid looking like a spammer, let's call it, www.xyz.com. This is my personal blog and I have several categories listed on it.

I also have several other domains that I want to develop some day. They take the categories I already have on xyz.com and make those posts their own site with a niche focus.

    So instead of this:

    Personal Blog
    Personal Posts
    Tech Posts
    Marketing Posts
    Ranting Posts
    etc.

    I would have:
    Personal Blog
    Tech Blog
    Marketing Blog
    Ranting Blog

I have domains already registered for them and all that good stuff.

    Now the question...

Since I have JUST started seriously blogging (I only have about 51 posts broken over these various categories), what should I do?

    a. Continue to put everything on one blog w/ categories and when I have 50+ posts in each transfer them over to the niche domains

    b. Disregard the low number of posts and transfer them to the niche domains now

    --

Personally, I'm leaning towards option "b" because when it comes to registering these blogs for directories, etc, it's hard to do so properly.

    Any thoughts?

Option (b) is probably better from a SERPs and PR point of view because you can develop a nice network of links between the different sites. However, you'll find it is difficult to maintain more than 4 or 5 good (high quality) blogs at the same time unless you have a lot of time to spare.

Would it be positive to interlink all of these 4-5 blogs ?

Or is it better to leave each one alone, just linking to one main site (the site where you earn money) ?

i think on 1 blog it is better !! you can focus on 1, and build your audience to 1

it takes to build backlinks and an audience for each specific domain so I don't recommend option A. I would start with two blogs, optimize them and get up to 30 posts for both. Then I'll start a new one and get up to 30 posts, before moving to another one. I'll make sure to start up a posting schedule, maybe one post once or every other day... hope this helps!

you cant just use content from one blog on all your blogs, you need unique content on EACH different site to do well in the SERP's. I am also new to the blogging world, but i feel maintaining a focus on one will help you moreso in the long run.

 Wow... thanks for the all the input so far.

If this helps, and if you didn't see it in my profile, the website is brianshoff.com. Does this help with suggestions?

I definitely don't have the ability to manage 4 to 5 blogs, but I'm thinking about relevance and community. The stuff I write about technology might bore my family to death, and vice versa. If I separate the 2 into different sites, you can choose which one you are most interested in.

Just some thoughts? What are yours?
