The blogosphere is continuing to grow, with a weblog created every second, according to blog trackers Technorati. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/4737671.stm
Yeah, and I am sure one blog dies every second and a half... I must of started 7 blogs this year... and just forgot about them after a couple of days
How many blogs on meso does the world really need? I bet its more like 8 or 9 out of 10. That's the problem with that "stat" it doesn't really count good or informative blogs. It counts every POS blog that is created. Blogging is just the new way to make a practically free website without having to put up any unique content.
A lot of people try out a lot of sites, especially blogging sites, wouldn't surprise me if their retainability was extremely low, but at that sort of a signup rate, I guess it really doesn't matter too much, because those that aren't active, will be eventually replaced by ones that are, I suppose.
To add to the discussion here's some stats from LiveJournal: * Total accounts: 7,991,766 * ... active in some way: 2,608,175 * ... that have ever updated: 5,612,969 * ... updating in last 30 days: 1,430,672 * ... updating in last 7 days: 866,406 * ... updating in past 24 hours: 287,115
