I know there is alot of talk about this but I want some stats as to how many of you guys think creating a bunch of sub-niches with good amount of content or creating one main niche with huge amount of content. There are pros and cons for each but what has work best for you?

Please explain your reason if you can. Thanks

I had one big site that was doing well until Jagger hit and it got hammered. Now I'm bulding more sites so that no one site brings in more than 10% of my revenue. Hopefully next time a Jagger-like event occurs, I'll be less effected.

Same for me. But it was because of getting too many links in a very short amount of time, therefore it was my own fault...

Although I have heard from some respected guys that they are moving in the opposite direction...

Guess it all depends on how good the one site really is. If you can make one truely remarkable site, which in all respects is the best in it's field, you are better off building just one site.

If you are not able to make such a site (most of us aren't...) I think you're better off creating multiple site. Not clones, but just different sites.

I am also trying to balance things out by selling links, featured listings, etc. so it all isn't adsense. Eventually I'd like to get adsense (or ypn) down to less than 50% of my revenue, but that is a ways off.

I think it depends on how much time you have to dedicate. If you can dedicate time to 2 sites, do it.

it depends what is kind products and subject if it is interconnected together
I think better to make one good project, than 100 small and Submit or SEO one project very good.

It depends on what the sites content is. If you feel one site can provide value to users & can act as one stop solution then go for it.

If the content is not related I would open multiple sites. As that would be easy to navigate for users and not overwhelming.

i think it's good to diversify by having a few sites, but don't spread yourself too thinly =)
