Once you get listed in DMOZ...

Is there any need for more directory submissions?

I have seen that DMOZ is a 'feeder' directory for many other authority directories. It looks like if you get a DMOZ listing, you'll eventually get tons of other directory listings, so could I stop looking for directory submissions?

Yahoo maintains their own directory, maybe you want to submit to them too.

    You could stop, but why?
The more directories you are in the better. Don't rely on something 'maybe' happening. If you do it yourself then you know it has happened.
If you're short of time, get somebody else to do the posting for you.

And those DMOZ clones are all worthless directories, at least as far as Google is concerned. Most directories aren't worth what they were years ago, but go ahead and submit - it probably won't hurt.

At a cost of only $299/year last I saw unless your site is non-commercial, in which case it's a free listing once they get around to those submissions.

    Not any longer

Only because of people like you, who are perpetuating this myth, DMOZ is still taking place in "spot light".

But in the page below it says that there are still many directories from authority sites that are fed by DMOZ data:

Thats just a few of them. Last time I counted it came to over 3000 sites used ODP for their own directory. That does not mean that you get 3000 links that actually count or are worth something - it could be that 2999 are filtered by the duplicate content filter.

DMOZ is just another directory and quickly becoming irrelevant in SEO world, don't expect miracles from its listing
