They've gone to the same place all of my pages have... Googleland.

Googleland is a land of ambiguous rankings and arbitrary indexes. A place of msytery and intrigue shrouded by a giant cloak of silence and misdirection. A place where things are never what they seem...

Never had I sympathized with a rat in a maze nor a dog suffering from an overwhelming compulsion to chase his own tail. And always in vain.
    Chasing... chasing... round and round...

    And then I visited Googleland.

I fear I shall never leave.

May God shine his mercy upon you MikeSwede. For only He can save you now...

i have similar experience. since June 21st, traffic from google to my site becomes lesser and lesser however, msn + yahoo sending me traffic more than they previously sent... but they still cant make up for the main bulk of google traffic lost.

Moral of the story: don't rely your income on google. Try to get returning visitors instead.

Of course that doesn't work for all types of sites. Sites that focus on infrequent life events don't lead themselves to having repeat visitors and thus rely on search engine traffic.

For example if you have a website where you sell dining room tables you will want the search engine traffic to drive leads. But even if a visitor buys they are probably not going to become a daily visitor to the site.... Their need has been filled and they are probably not going to visit the site daily for tips on how to use their table.

I agree with you that for each site you need to figure out how to diversify your traffic sources as much as possible. Some types of sites will still need to rely on search engine traffic and accept the consequences when that traffic disappears.

I agree with you 100%. Not all sites are content based where a visitor will have the need to come back again and again. They come, they buy and they are done. I also agree that businesses such as this must do their best to diversity their traffic source. I know that I personally visit sites such as this often and after my purchase there is not much need to return in most cases. I know that including articles on sites are discussed continuously on this forum, however, I am not sure how many people are going to come to a site to read up on current articles on dining room furniture.
