I have website specialized around a specific keyword and after investment of both time and money, i managed to get it to the first position in google search.

Google keyword analysis says my keyword has around 90,000 average search volume per month BUT i only get less than 1500 per month.

I fail to understand this. Possible reasons and/or suggestions on how can i improve?

Could you give more detail of your problem, so we can review your website to have a solution to your problem. 90000 to 1500 seem some problems.

Are you comparing the exact same terms? (or are you using quotes?) Do you have a localization set for your search? Also, it's entirely possible that the keyword analysis is not accurate.

Hi, I rank on the first page of google for 2 search terms, however one search term has about 30000 searches per month and the other is a lot more than that. Strangely enough though i receive much more traffic from the first search term, so it could be inaccurate data. Try a number of different keyword tools. I received these results from googles key word tool. Also remember that many of the searches are done by webmasters doing their own keyword research, so the number of searches will actually be higher than the real number of visitors.

This might be happen due to CPC results on that particular keyword and in that case you will be ranked 4th(after 3 cpc results) position.

And as you know most of the users click on top three results, this could be the only reason you are getting too low traffic despite the fact of ton of search volume per month. Otherwise, you need to do the keyword research again to check the validity of that search volume.

So, presuming the traffic estimator is accurate you have a 1.6% click through rate.
However, if the estimator is inaccurate you could be seeing a much higher CTR.

Need to know a little more info to be sure...

I believe Google also sometimes ups the searchcount on high paying keywords to get more advertisers bidding on those words.. They do seem to scramble with their searchcount a lot.

Also what manish says might be trye. CTR drops very fast from position 1 to 3 or 4. Can not post links yet, but read about it here: slowseo.com/articles/search-engines/click-percentage-search-engine-positions.html
