    Hello people!

Does someone can give a percentage of the importance off on-page and off-page optimization to SEO of a webpage.

Some people believe that the off-page optimization is more that 90% important while the on-page 10%, what's your opinion?

For me, Offpage has more percentage than onpage since the onpage optimization is the first thing to do and the offpage follows....Offpage optimization is the most complicated way of optimizing....

Since linkbuilding is the hardest way to do....

I would say its 60% off 40% on

I have seen the way optimizing a page can make such a big difference

On-page is more important since its scope the overall structure of site but off-page never ends. You have to work on it and spend more time on it. Since it needs more time then i would say 40-on page and 60 to off page

Off-page has bigger percentage than on-page. You are only doing on-page optimization once while off-page is never ending process.

Off-page has bigger percentage because you need a lot of hardwork and patience before you get a result. While on-page optimization is the first process that we should do before we do the link building or the off-page factor for the site.

Off-page 90%. You can make the best on-page SEO ever but your site will rank nowhere without off-page.

I agree with off-page being the higher percentage but what that percentage is is a guess. I think it will depend on other factors.

Look at the keyword 'click here', type it into Google and you get adobe reader as the top result. The page obviously isn't optimized for the words 'click here' but because so many back links have that as their anchor text Google returns the adobe page.

i do bit agree giving much effort with off page.. coz some site rank without effort in on-page..

but i believe the two must have the same effort..

    Depends.

What type of site you're talking about? If you have a site that is in a very low competition niche, you can get by with about 90% on-page optimization. But, once you're in a niche with any kind of competition, it almost is all offpage, it's all about the number, quality etc of your incoming links. I've gotten pages to the top of Google with just a handful of links.

But, all SEO is about the competition. Every time you start to work on a website, you'll have to look at what your competition is doing, and adjust accordingly.

As a very general figure I'd be looking at 20/80 onpage/offpage

You won't rank for anything competitive with one without the other though,

Onpage optimisation tells a search engine what a page is about
Offpage optimisation tess a search engine how important that page is

Both are equally important.........if you ignore even a little for one on of them then its hard to get among top ranks on all major search engines Google, Yahoo, Msn............

For me it is 80% On-Page and 20% Off-Page, I utilise this method without exception and in most cases it always works. (97% successful)

I prefer this method as it allows complete control over the optimization process, as i do not need to worry too much about back-links disappearing.

Positioning is completely controlled by the websites content, with just a few carefully chosen back-links.

This method also seems to keep the clients website positioning more stable within the SERPs.

As far as i m concerned
give more importance to onpage optimisation since that is more under your control, i have seen certain websites ranking well with only onpage optimisation
offpage is something not fully under your control, hence that can be done at a later stage over a period of time

It seems that everyone have a different method, and if both can be successful then 50% - 50% must be the best option.
