Could someone give me a fairly extensive list of all on page factors for me to evaluate between two versions of one of my pages. Here's why. Day 1 - Page Copy 1 ranks number 4 in Yahoo. Day 2 - Page Copy 2 ranks number 1 in Yahoo. Day 3 - Page Copy 1 ranks number 4 in Yahoo. Day 4 - Page Copy 2 ranks number 1 in Yahoo. Essentially I can narrow the change in results down to purely on-page factors. As soon as I noticed a new cache of one version of the page, I would change it back to the other, then once the new version was cached, the results would change accordingly. I can 100% guarantee that if I were to go back to page copy 2 tomorrow, that it would be Result number 4 once cached. The title tag stayed the same. No new links I'm aware of. No meta tags at all. Just title and content. So... the on page content is 100% responsible for the 4 position change. I want to know what on-page factors to analyze. obviously keyword density.. but what else? The problem is... the version of the page that ranks number 1 is terribly ugly and useless. The one that ranks 4th is a much better page for the visitor. Essentially, the one that ranks 4th, took the exact content of version that ranks 1st.... reformatted it to make it look better, and added about 5 paragraphs of extra content.
Hi Bloard, Here are the on-page SEO factors I'm aware of: 1. Page title 2. Meta tags 3. 'H' tags (H1, H2, etc.) used with keywords 4. Bold and italic fonts used with keywords 5. Keyword density 6. Keyword placement - once at very beginning (top left) of page, once at very end (bottom right) of page, and at least once in body of page 7. Use of words related to keywords There may be more, and if so, I'm sure someone will chime in with additional info... HTH, Sam
