Hi guys, just a quick one really... I have a gambling website which was started a few months back and optimized in various ways, now everything has come into play i am getting a fair few hits from google, msn etc under quite competitive keywords, for example, if i search google(uk) for uk online casinos i come up 8th out of 8 million results http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=uk+online+casinos&btnG=Google+Search&meta= when the site was optimized i used various techniques such as article submission, backlinks / link building, quality keyword research etc i am just wondering if i need to carry on optimizing the website further to keep the rankings thanks in advance Alan
You definitely want to keep it up. Add more unique fresh content to the site and keep getting inbound links. SEO is and ongoing effort. Once you get good rankings you need to keep doing various things (such as what I mentioned) to keep your rankings.
also... just a thought .... if i add fresh content to the homepage won't that mess with my SE rankings because the page has been optimized for keywords etc in the paragraphs of content? or is ok to add and delete content from the homepage?
You might not want to make a large change to your homepage. I would add extra pages of new content or update other pages other than your homepage.
Yes, but changing a small section will probably not have any effect on rankings. For example on my aquarium fish site I change the species spotlight monthly. This has never effected my rankings for any homepage targeted keywords.
ok thanks for the comments, very much appreciated, i'll look at getting more pages added and update new content from there
Home page, only make small changes that you are sure will improve your SERPs. Google definitely likes a static homepage, just increase the number of pages. Give the most weigth to your title, this is worth more than anything else so choose it very carefully and relate your description to the titl!
