On a more positive note... how about being generous with rep?

No, I'm not asking for rep in any way shape or form.

I just notice that for myself, I'm a little stingy with it, mostly I just don't think about it and there are a LOT of helpful posts.

I can't fault people for not red repping everyone who posts useless stuff - those "I see a pr update" threads are the worst! but it costs rep and not everyone is interested in loosing rep but I think people who answer a question well or offer you a suggestion etc., are deserving of a little luv - if for nothing more than to motivate people to really use their heads when posting a reply or a new thread.

I'm going to make a conscious effort to reward people for good posts, information etc., EVEN when the poster has a kazillion green blobs already (another of my shortcomings)

 

Well being honest, I only started to rep people in January, But I do rep people for good posts.

 

From the beginning, I have made it a habit to give reps for those posts I think are worth it. And for almost all users replying in threads I've started asking for help, unless ofcourse my reputation quota for the day is over.

 

I just rep it for the sake of it, as i like to use up my 12 reps every day, otherwise it seems like i waster a day or something ...

I have to agree!! I too rep people everyday to the max (usually) with useful posts. I know everyone doesn't rep for good posts... but its the least I can do to say thanks

 

That's a good habit to green rep helpful peoples, even if your not the one being helped.

But aren't thanks as valuable as rep ?

Yeah maybe a system where we all start out w/ full reps.. and then slowly lose reps would work sounds really negative though!

 

How about start with 10 red blobs and than move forward ?

 

This thread is funny, I actually just found out last night that there was a rep limit when I tried to rep someone and it told me no.

I give rep to people who take a positive part in useful threads, or have helped me or someone else. Sometimes I'll give rep if someone posts something that really gets my attention or that gives me a good laugh when I was needing it. (Is this bad?) *Hides* (>.<)

Plus if u did not know u can rep 12 people in 24 hrs at most. And i think you need to rep atleast 14 other folks before u can rep same person again.
