Hi everyone, I'm looking for some constructive criticism on my website to help me get out of rut of 21 viewers and $.10 a day. Basically, I created a website that allows users to make photo mosaics out of our stock photos, pictures off their computer, the internet, or Facebook. It is my goal to someday make the site viral using Facebook, kind of a mixture of formspring and Obamiconme but for some reason it never caught on and I'm pretty sure I'm missing something big. I'll listen to anything suggestions/ciriticsm, but am specifically hoping for :

Functionality-Whenever I try the website it works fine, but that probably has a lot to do with the fact that I made it. I've missed technical errors before, so if anyone finds the page having trouble with their request, do not hesitate to bring it up.

Appearance-I've heard statements ranging from "visually attractive" to "blocky with too much green". I don't know too much about CSS, but if anyone has a good idea, I'd be glad to look up some tutorials and help guides to figure it out.

Clarity-This one especially, I've gone through 3 major redesigns in order to make the mosaic-making process as forward as possible, and yet, I still get a lot of people stopping at random times, particularly when it comes to adding the tiles(Step 3). If anyone is having trouble, that's exactly what I hope to hear.

Again, I'm open to anything you want to say and I hope this request doesn't turn people off of trying out the site, I just have no idea what to do next.:p

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi There,

I've checked out the site and the first impression is, too greeen (background). Then you have the blinking banner at the left side and the chaotical lay out. 99.9 % of the visitors will have clicked it away.

    Im sorry, success

My sudden impression : AH ! Too green .. I should close this right now ..

    Review :

1 )Well brother, the green color is no doubt looking good, but the main content's bright color i.e. 00ff00 is too burning. You should change it to dark green i.e. 00cc00.
2 ) Your site is taking time to load because of all the images it contains, you should reduce the use of images. This will also improve SEO.

That's an interesting idea. I'll try the darker colors for a little while to see if it helps keep people on the site. I think you're right about the index page layout too. This is my second incarnation, I tried to make it look legit, but ran into some problems since I only have access to widescreen monitors. I'd like to redo it when I have an opportunity, though there really aren't that many images, just the Navigation bar and ads. The thing in the middle is a flash carousel, but I can understand thinking it's an image since it's basically stationary(I made it after not using flash in years). Anyway thanks for the advice!

Before I leave this topic though, does anybody have anything to say about the mosaic creation process? It seems to be a little shakey but always works fine when I test it.

    hi,

actually, it's nice...but the background color -green- is somewhat not appropriate, i mean, too bright.
maybe you can combine it with other colors or choose the darker ones so it may be attractive.

Thanks,I think I'm gonna redo the layout again. Probably go with more of a white template with green as a theme in the sense that Facebook is white with lots of green and Yahoo is white with purple. In the meantime does anybody have any good layout references? I've been basing my homepage on websites like YouTube and tv.com since I don't know too many big picture manipulation sites. If anyone has some ideas I'd be open to anything at this point.
