Has anyone else installed the Vista Service Pack 1update? I did and everything is a complete mess. I had Vista as part of my new pc last year and all was fine until this update. It claimed to install with out problems but there are problems. Main problem, everything is distorted. It seems to be related to my DPI scaling control panel, the settings seems to be screwed up after the update but nothing I do helps. First everything was huge so I rebooted to see if it was a glitch. Then everything was super small so I looked and saw things were set at 96 DPI. I have tried to make adjustments by changing it to 120 DPI but everything is still tiny. Going to websites like DP nothing appears normal. Even the google adsense ads are very tiny, the menu bar is tiny. Anyone heard of this happening or have ideas on how I can make things half way normal again?
Really sorry to hear that you are having problems with it. It is stories like this that make me glad I stayed with XP Pro! I have no suggestions for you. Best of luck.
Well….I think if you wait for some more time… you can get a lot better suggestions that this…I am out of any ideas for this!!!!
Ok I will wait and see if others report this problem. When you make the font big enough to comfortably read now all websites are on this side to side scroll. Very annoying. It seems like everything on the web is now this arial narrow (extremely narrow) font. There is no good setting and I want to cry. I cannot believe I am the only one experiencing this after updating this vista service pack 1. Everything was fine until i updated, and the moment after I did the web now looks horrible.
Hi, Sorry about this but I'm just posting to say I don't have your problem because I'm a Mac user and will never use Vista as my primary OS, unless I'm forced to. Have you tried praying to the rosary?
it seems like there is a dispute in drivera..roll back the changes..or try to install your old driver back .
the service pack has many problems. even microsoft put out a utility to change your registering settings so you would not keep getting window update notice if you did not want to update. I have read that some have updated with success but no explanation why some succeed and most do not. I would roll back to old settings or you will be living with the problem for a while until the next update.
Uninstall the service pack, maybe? Here's something that might help: windowsreference.com/windows-vista/how-to-uninstall-windows-vista-service-pack-1-sp1 When I hear about things like this, it makes me want to continue using XP as long as possible. =/
Thanks everyone I rolled back the change. It took 2 hours but thank goodness I got that mess reversed. Wow all I can say is microsoft if this is the best you got then just give up. Before I rolled back the change I called the store where I bought the pc to talk with a friend of mine. I asked him about this update and whether it is causing problems with customers. His response was: "Microsoft must have crack heads updating Vista."
I‘m still using XP and wont use vista till all programs I’m using require it and when i got at least 4 GB ram.
I have Vista and Service Pack one, and everything is smooth nothing is messy, you need to customise few things in order to make it work good, this even beats XP 1000000 times.
